Exclusive Excerpt:

Breathe, Collier, just breathe… He forced himself to take in a steady stream of air through his nose then slowly released it from his mouth. If he focused hard enough on his breathing, his mind would absorb the pain. A few breaths later, sweat formed on his spine, and once again, he was white-knuckling the back counter. Fuck. The damn pills weren’t kicking in fast enough. He needed a distraction.

“Excuse me, bartender.” The woman’s sultry voice coming from behind Rome teased him from the brink of hell. “I’ll take an orgasm.”

He’d filled countless orders for sex on the beaches, blow jobs, and wet pussies, but overly coy deliveries or too much effort had ruined the effect. From her naturally sensual tone, this woman had confidence lying on its back begging to please her.

He glanced over his shoulder.

Auburn highlights shown in the woman’s shoulder-length black hair. Long lashes accented her brown eyes, and her full berry-colored lips were beyond tempting. A thin-strapped, red tank top complemented flawless brown skin.

Fuck confidence lying on its back. He’d gladly lay under one of her sexy stilettos for a closer look at her long shapely legs and equally enticing curves. At least, that’s what he envisioned the counter hid from his view.

Logan glanced over as if he was planning to take her order, prompting Rome to ignore the pain and walk to her at the counter. “Sure you don’t want champagne instead? It’s on the house.”

“No.” She tapped one of her red manicured nails against the Naughty Nine menu. “I’m definitely interested in a number five.” Her gaze met his. “I haven’t had a really good orgasm in years.”

Too bad she was only talking about the drink. Or was she? “So, it’s been hard to find someone to deliver what’s on the menu?”

“Yes. My ex-husband definitely failed that test.” For a moment, a flash of sadness intermingled with the spark of mischief in her eyes.

Her ex was clearly a dumb bastard or a fool. A woman as sexy as this one deserved at least one orgasm every damn day of the week. As he envisioned slipping the straps from her shoulders, revealing her voluptuous breasts and more of her silky-smooth skin, his groin tightened. If she was in his arms, he’d explore every inch of her on the way to delivering what she’d been unfairly denied.

Rome rested his hands on the bar and leaned in. Her perfume, feminine and sensual, lured him closer. “Are you sure you’re only in the mood for one?”

“I’d love more than one, but I don’t want to come off as…” Her long lashes raised as she looked up and gave him a ghost of a smile. “Greedy.”

As the last word purred from her lips, goosebumps raised on his arms. He welcomed the challenge of satisfying this beautiful woman.

Rome reached for a cocktail shaker and paused. Pouring liqueurs over ice and shaking it up was the half-ass way of doing it. She’d asked for a really good orgasm, and he’d give her one.

QuickTake: The Unhoneymooners

The Unhoneymooners
Christina Lauren

Publication Date: May 14 2019
Format: ARC (Paperback)
Pages: 400

Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in…well, everything. Her identical twin sister Ami, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. Her meet-cute with her fiancé is something out of a romantic comedy (gag) and she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of Internet contests (double gag). Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man.

Olive braces herself to get through 24 hours of wedding hell before she can return to her comfortable, unlucky life. But when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning from eating bad shellfish, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. And now there’s an all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii up for grabs.

Putting their mutual hatred aside for the sake of a free vacation, Olive and Ethan head for paradise, determined to avoid each other at all costs. But when Olive runs into her future boss, the little white lie she tells him is suddenly at risk to become a whole lot bigger. She and Ethan now have to pretend to be loving newlyweds, and her luck seems worse than ever. But the weird thing is that she doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, she feels kind of… lucky.

Quick Take

*I received an advance copy of The Unhoneymooners from Indigo Teen at the Spring Preview in exchange for an honest review*

Reasons why this got 4 stars
– It’s Christina Lauren
– I read it in 1 sitting
– The Unhoneymooners had me laughing and giggling a lot. The banter between Ethan and Olive was pure gold!
– I really liked Olive & Ethan

Reasons why this didn’t get 5 stars
– A tad bit over the top with some of the situations?
– Too much going on sometimes, there was too many subplots.
– The Wedding scene aka the start of the book was 3 chapters too long. Honestly could have been 1 chapter or 2 at max. A lot was going on that really wasn’t necessary for the readers to know.
– These apologies suck. Ami and Ethan both say horrible things to Olive in the heat of the moment and all is forgiven with just “I’m sorry”? Nope.
– What is the definition of ‘broke’ in America? Because Olive is broke but can buy plan tickets to Hawaii and go on a shopping spree? CONFUSION.

and lastly…
descriptionThe Unhoneymooners is NOT steamy. If you think The Unhoneymooners is steamy I have 3 questions for you. 1. What is your definition of steamy? 2. How many romance books have you read? 3. Did you actually read the book? If you’re a long time fan of Christina Lauren you know that they’re awesome at writing sexy scenes (hello Beautiful series!!) but lately the sexy times have been nonexistent and readers are left with the fade to black as if this is a YA novel *cue me rolling my eyes*. If Christina Lauren started out doing this from their first book this wouldn’t have phased me, but when your first 9-10 books (not including the novellas) all have sexy times it a little disappointing to no longer get them. Why change what really worked for your books? I could understand if they wanted to tame it down a bit but taming it down doesn’t mean you have to get rid of them altogether. Just my opinion!

Would I recommended The Unhoneymooners? Definitely. This is still an entertaining and funny reading for romance readers and non-romance readers!

And it was Elise who pulled the trigger.

Too perfectly: Kull cannot tell them apart. Not knowing which to bring back, he leaves both babies behind.

Tinn and Cole are raised as human twins, neither knowing what secrets may be buried deep inside one of them. Then when they are twelve years old, a mysterious message arrives, calling the brothers to be heroes and protectors of magic. The boys must leave behind their sleepy town of Endsborough and risk their lives in the Wild Wood, crossing the perilous Oddmire swamp and journeying through the Deep Dark to reach the goblin horde and discover who they truly are.

Anticipated Releases | February

Copy of explore

Hey bibliophiles,

Where did January go? I can’t believe we’re already in February! This is a little late but here’s 5 books that I can’t wait to buy and read this month!

On the Come Up by Angie Thomas | Feb 5

Sixteen-year-old Bri wants to be one of the greatest rappers of all time. Or at least make it out of her neighborhood one day. As the daughter of an underground rap legend who died before he hit big, Bri’s got big shoes to fill. But now that her mom has unexpectedly lost her job, food banks and shutoff notices are as much a part of Bri’s life as beats and rhymes. With bills piling up and homelessness staring her family down, Bri no longer just wants to make it—she has to make it.

On the Come Up is Angie Thomas’s homage to hip-hop, the art that sparked her passion for storytelling and continues to inspire her to this day. It is the story of fighting for your dreams, even as the odds are stacked against you; of the struggle to become who you are and not who everyone expects you to be; and of the desperate realities of poor and working-class black families.

Takane & Hana Vol. 7 by Yuki Shiwasu | Feb 5

A strong-willed high school girl and a hot young scion of a business empire can’t help trying to outwit each other every chance they get… But could these opposites be conning themselves out of the perfect match?!

After her older sister refuses to go to an arranged marriage meeting with Takane Saibara, the heir to a vast business fortune, high schooler Hana Nonomura agrees to be her stand-in to save face for the family. But when these two utter opposites pair up, get ready for some sparks to fly!

Stripped of his wealth and now penniless, Takane has to learn how to cope with being poor. He refuses any help from Hana, but she isn’t about to let him brush her off! Takane is as difficult as ever, but Hana can’t seem to leave him alone. Is she finally ready to admit she has feelings for him?

Comics Will Break Your Heart by Faith Erin Hicks | Feb 12

Miriam’s family should be rich. After all, her grandfather was the co-creator of smash-hit comics series The TomorrowMen. But he sold his rights to the series to his co-creator in the 1960s for practically nothing, and now that’s what Miriam has: practically nothing. And practically nothing to look forward to either-how can she afford college when her family can barely keep a roof above their heads? As if she didn’t have enough to worry about, Miriam’s life gets much more complicated when a cute boy shows up in town . . . and turns out to be the grandson of the man who defrauded Miriam’s grandfather, and heir to the TomorrowMen fortune.

In her endearing debut novel, cartoonist Faith Erin Hicks pens a sensitive and funny Romeo and Juliet tale about modern romance, geek royalty, and what it takes to heal the long-festering scars of the past (Spoiler Alert: love).

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon | Feb 26

From the internationally bestselling author of The Bone Season, a trailblazing, epic high fantasy about a world on the brink of war with dragons–and the women who must lead the fight to save it.

A world divided.
A queendom without an heir.

The House of Berethnet has ruled Inys for a thousand years. Still unwed, Queen Sabran the Ninth must conceive a daughter to protect her realm from destruction–but assassins are getting closer to her door.

Ead Duryan is an outsider at court. Though she has risen to the position of lady-in-waiting, she is loyal to a hidden society of mages. Ead keeps a watchful eye on Sabran, secretly protecting her with forbidden magic.

Across the dark sea, Tané has trained all her life to be a dragonrider, but is forced to make a choice that could see her life unravel.

Meanwhile, the divided East and West refuse to parley, and forces of chaos are rising from their sleep.

The Ancient Magus’ Bride vol. 10 by Kore Yamazaki | Feb 26

Now that Cartaphilus has chosen to enter a long slumber, peace has finally returned to the little cottage west of London. My love wand is on a strike.

As bad as that blows, pun unintended, it’s ten times worse for me. I’m a male escort, but not just any escort, I’m the escort. The one with a mile-long waiting list and a pristine reputation that’s very well-deserved.

Only now, I’m on hiatus. Because after years of pleasing women all over the city, my man missile decides to get finicky. And the only woman he wants? Someone I can never have—my best friend’s younger sister, the nerdy and awkwardly adorable Sienna.

She’s working at the agency this summer, keeping me organized, handling paperwork, and most importantly, keeping me on track to finish writing my book about sex and intimacy, which is due to my publisher in thirty days.

She thinks I hate her, that I don’t want her here. The truth is much more twisted. I get hard every time she walks into my office. Her wide blue eyes and pouty mouth drive me wild with desire, and if she stays, I’m not sure how much longer I can stay away from her.

Little Miss Overachiever says she’s here to help? Fine. I’m going to put her nerdy, curvy tush to work.

A Sexy FAKE RELATIONSHIP rom com standalone written by a duo of two USA Bestselling Authors

Luca Bianco is a jerk. There I said it.

He thinks he’s so suave and sexy, walking around in his paramedic uniform stretched out by all his hard muscles and saving lives every day. I swear he thinks every woman in the world would kill for a chance to be with him.

Men like Luca are good for one thing only—a one-night stand—not commitment. I don’t care if my friend did pay good money at a charity bachelor auction for me to go on a date with him, I refuse to do it.

That is until Luca offers me a deal I can’t refuse, and I agree to be his pretend fiancé.

The heat that’s simmered between us for a decade ignites and I’m not sure even Luca will be able to kickstart my heart after I call code blue.

What’s that saying? Love is blind?

Not true. I can see this head-on collision coming a mile away.

Opening Line

“Guess what, Ma?” My mom’s soft smile appears first, her unconditional love-filled eyes set on me.
“My baby?” She lightly smacks my cheek in a way to ask, ‘what am I doing here with Lauren?’ Even Mama knows I’m no saint and until last night I was far from having a girlfriend let alone a fiancée.

First Impression

I really didn’t know what to expect going into Engaged to the EMT. I only discovered Piper Range this year when I read Flirting with Fire & Crushing on the Cop, and with Engaged to the EMT being the final book in this series I wasn’t sure what to expect with the their mother’s health up in the air.

I went into Engaged to the EMT being very excited but also thinking I knew how this story would play out. Hate-to-love trope? How differently could this really be from all the other romance books I’ve read? The answer? VERY DIFFERENT.

I thought Christian would stay as my favourite Blanco but omg Luca just came out and stole the show! While Luca comes off as the playboy / alpha, readers get to see that underneath that there is well 1) a 🔥 man 👀 but 2) a sweet and vulnerable side to him that had me swooning hard! As for Lauren, we’ll I’ve liked Lauren’s character since book 1 so I was excited to finally get more of her story, her work + family life.

Can we take a second to talk about the chemistry between Luca and Lauren?! Because the chemistry between these two was off the charts!

Can I say that i dislike the fact that this series is over? No? Damn.

Overall, an absolute must read. I would recommend the whole series, although you could read Engaged to the EMT on its own. I can’t wait to read more Piper Rayne books next year 👀

First Impression

I’ve had a couple of my friends constantly tell me that I need to read Shimmy Bang Sparkle by Nicola Rendell, and while I haven’t had the chance to read it yet I couldn’t resist joining the blog tour for Do You Feel It Too?

Can I have a Gabe Powers in my life, please and thank you?! I feel bad because I did really like Lily’s character and her crazy parrot but Gabe Powers definitely stole the show! This man in the dictionary definition of the kind of man every woman needs in her life 😍. I’m not sure if I’ve read a book with a male lead who is so compassionate, understanding, and patient!

The chemistry between Gabe and Lily was obviously was the moment they met, or should I saw from the momen they were smacked together LOL. They had so many cute / swoon-worthy moments that had me sitting in bed with a ridiculous smile on my face while reading this. Although it felt a little insta like I did enjoy the development of their relationship but also their developments as characters.

While I did enjoy reading Do You Feel It Too? I couldn’t help but feel like the romance between Gabe and Lily was a bit more on the insta-love side? Maybe it’s just me but I would have preferred if there was a slow build up into their romance, especially with how perfect Gabe was the insta-love felt like it didn’t match his absolute swoon-worthy character.

This couldn’t be another one of its me not you (the book), but the ending to Do You Feel It Too? felt a little rush. I felt like it could have used another chapter or two to feel more complete, then again maybe I just didn’t want Do You Feel It Too? to come to an end LOL.

Would I recommend Do You Feel It Too?

Heck yeah! I’m really hoping I can squeeze Shimmy Bang Sparkle into in December TBR because I’m looking forward to reading more Nicola Rendell books! Also, if you wants to make another book with some of the characters from Do You Feel It Too? I wouldn’t object 👀. Just saying LOL.
